Fact-Checking Policy

Our Commitment to Truth, Accuracy, and Accountability

At ALMFD (American Liberty & Media for Democracy), we believe truth is non-negotiable. In an age of misinformation, clickbait, and AI-generated noise, fact-checking is not just a policy—it’s a responsibility.

This page outlines how we ensure the accuracy, integrity, and fairness of everything we publish.

1. Core Principles

We follow these guiding values in every fact-check and every report:

  • Accuracy over speed – We don’t rush to be first; we focus on being right.
  • Transparency in sourcing – We cite credible sources, including official documents, direct quotes, and primary data.
  • Nonpartisanship – We check facts, not agendas. We don’t take sides—we take facts seriously.
  • Correction, not concealment – We own our mistakes and fix them openly.

2. Our Process

Every story or segment goes through a rigorous fact-checking process:

a. Pre-Publication Review

  • Reporters verify names, dates, statistics, and claims using reputable sources.
  • All political or controversial claims must be backed by at least two independent sources.
  • Quotes and paraphrases are checked against recordings or transcripts.
  • Visual content (images, videos, graphics) is examined for authenticity and context.

b. Third-Party Source Use

We rely on and cross-reference:

  • Government documents and official statements
  • Peer-reviewed studies and research institutions
  • Established news agencies with rigorous editorial standards
  • Independent watchdogs and fact-checking organizations (e.g., PolitiFact, FactCheck.org)

c. Editorial Oversight

  • Each article is reviewed by a section editor and a fact-checking lead before publication.
  • Sensitive or investigative content may go through legal and ethics review.

3. Corrections & Updates

We believe transparency builds trust. If we get something wrong:

  • Minor factual errors are corrected in the article with a note of the change.
  • Significant corrections are acknowledged at the top or bottom of the article, including what was wrong and what’s been corrected.
  • Corrections are dated and logged in our internal system.

4. User-Submitted Tips or Claims

We encourage the public to send in claims to be fact-checked. These may come from:

  • Social media posts
  • Viral news
  • Politician statements
  • Reader submissions

Submissions are evaluated based on:

  • Public relevance
  • Potential for harm
  • Likelihood of misinformation

5. Use of AI Tools

We may use AI tools to assist with data parsing or initial research—but final verification is always conducted by humans. AI is never used to generate unvetted claims or conclusions.

6. Training & Ethics

All team members involved in reporting or editing undergo regular training in:

  • Media ethics
  • Bias awareness
  • Verification techniques
  • Source reliability evaluation

7. Our Promise

Facts come first—always.
We’re not here to shape the narrative. We’re here to inform the next generation with context, clarity, and confidence.

Because a stronger democracy begins with better-informed people.
